This is a list of each American Girl character in order of their time era

Historical/BeForever Characters Edit

Each Historical Character/BeForever character features a nine-year-old girl who is growing up during an important time in American History.

Kaya 1764 Edit

Kaya is a nine-year-old Nimipuu girl growing up in 1764 in a tribe. She is determined to get rid of her horrible nickname, Magpie and become a strong leader for her people. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Felicity Merriman 1774 Edit

Felicity Merriman is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the American Revolution in 1774. She is the eldest in her family having a younger sister, a younger brother, and a baby sister. Her best friend is Elizabeth Cole. She is a horse lover. She was retired in 2011 along with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Cole 1774 Edit

Elizabeth Cole is Felicity's best friend and is a Loyalist from England. She is the youngest of two children having an older sister named Annabelle whom she and Felicity call Bananabelle. She was retired in 2011 along with Felicity.

Caroline Abbott 1812 Edit

As an only child in her family, nine-year-old Caroline Abbott is growing up during the War of 1812 with her parents. When her father is arrested by the British, she tries her best to stay brave until her father's return. She was part of the BeForever collection, but was retired in 2015.

Josefina Montoya 1824 Edit

Josefina Montoya is a nine-year-old girl growing up in New Mexico with her three older sisters and widowed father. Her mother died when she was eight. She and her sisters are trying to get over their mother's death. When Tia Dolores, their mother's younger sister comes to the ranch, she teaches the girls new ways of life. But the girls are worried that her new ways will make them forget about their mother. But the girls managed to find a way to remember their mother and Tia Dolores marries the girls' dad becoming their stepmother. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Marie-Grace Gardner 1853 Edit

Marie Grace Gardner is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the Yellow Fever Epidemic. Her mother and younger brother died of cholera when she was young, so she has been traveling with her father who is a doctor. She and her father settle in New Orleans. Marie-Grace becomes friends with Cecile Rey, a African American girl from a rich family and Marie-Grace takes voice lessons. Marie-Grace also attends a school for girls. When Yellow Fever hits New Orleans, Marie-Grace and Cecile do their best to help adults and children during this dreadful time. Marie-Grace & Cecile were retired in 2014.

Cecile Rey 1853 Edit

Cecile Rey is a nine-year-old girl girl growing up during the Yellow Fever Epidemic. She is the best friend of Marie-Grace Gardner and is the youngest of two children having an older brother. She is from a rich family. Cecile & Marie-Grace were retired in 2014

Kirsten Larson 1853 Edit

Kirsten Larson is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the pioneer times. She, and her family move to America from Sweden to begin a new life. Kirsten spends most of her time trying to get used to her new home. Kirsten was retired in 2009.

Addy Walker 1864 Edit

Addy Walker is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the Civil War in 1864. In her first book, she was a slave along with her family, but she and her mother escaped after Addy's brother and father were sold. She spends most of her books trying to get used to her freedom. Her best friend's name is Sarah Moore. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Samantha Parkington 1904 Edit

Samantha Parkington is a nine-year-old girl growing up during America's new century. She is an orphan who lives with her wealthy grandmother after her parents died. She makes friends with a girl her age named Nellie O'Malley who is a servant. She is determined to make Nellie's life better. At the end of the books, Samantha, Nellie, and her sisters, Bridget, and Jenny are adopted by Samantha's aunt, Cornelia and uncle, Gardner. Samantha was retired along with Nellie in 2008, but only Samantha was rereleased in 2014 with the launch of BeForever.

Nellie O'Malley 1904 Edit

Nellie O'Malley is Samantha's best friend and is nine-years-old. She is the oldest in her family having two younger sisters. Their parents died later in the books and the girls were adopted by their uncle who took all their money, food, and abandoned the girls leaving them to die. Nellie and her sisters were taken to a orphanage where they mistreat girls and treat them like slaves. But the girls were rescued by Samantha who had been searching for Nellie and her sisters. The girls were adopted by Samantha's aunt and uncle. Nellie was retired in 2008.

Rebecca Rubin 1914 Edit

Rebecca Rubin is a nine-year-old girl growing up in New York City in 1914. She along with her family are Russian and Jewish immigrants. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Kit Kittredge 1934 Edit

Kit Kittredge is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the Great Depression in 1934. She is the youngest of two children having an older brother. Her father loses his job and the family spends most of their time trying to keep their house. Kit tries her best to help out. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Ruthie Smithens 1934 Edit

Ruthie Smithens is Kit's best friend. She is an only child of Stan and Lily Smithens. She tries her best to help Kit and her family keep their house. She was retired in 2014.

Molly McIntire 1944 Edit

Molly McIntire is a nine-year-old girl growing up during World War II in the 1940s.. Her father is a doctor in the war and she is trying her best to help her family get over the war. She was retired in 2013.

Emily Bennett 1944 Edit

Emily Bennett is Molly's English best friend. She was sent to America to get away from England and World War II. She was retired in 2013 along with Molly.

Maryellen Larkin 1954 Edit

Maryellen Larkin is the first BeForever exclusive to be released. She is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the 1950s. She is third in a family of six children. She longs to stand out. Her favorite TV shows are Davy Crockett and the Lone Ranger. She loves to pretend to be in her own movies or TV shows. Her best friend's name is Davy Fenstermacher. She had polio when she was younger resulting in one leg being weaker than the other and her lungs being extra sensitive to coldness.

Melody Ellison 1964 Edit

Melody Ellison is the second BeForever exclusive to be released. She is a nine-year-old girl growing up during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. She is the youngest of four children. She will be released in summer 2016.

Julie Albright 1974 Edit

Julie Albright is a nine-year-old girl growing up in San Francisco during the 1970s. Her parents are divorced making Julie's life harder for her. She is the youngest of two children having an older sister. Her best friend's name is Ivy Ling. She is part of the BeForever collection.

Ivy Ling 1974 Edit

Ivy Ling is Julie's best friend. She is the middle child of three children. She is an Asian girl. She was retired in 2014.

Isabel Campion, England 1592 Edit

Isabel Campion is a 12-year-old girl growing up during Tudor England in 1592. She is the third of four children having an older sister, an older brother, and a younger sister. Her father sends her away to learn to become a lady.

Cécile Revel, France 1711 Edit

Cécile Revel is a 12-year-old girl growing up in France in 1711. After helping a lady who fell of her horse, she is invited to be part of King Louis XIV's court.

Spring Pearl, China 1857 Edit

Spring Pearl is a 12-year-old orphan growing up in China during the Second Opium War. She is whisked away to stay in the Sung home, but isn't welcomed at first because of being a tomboy. But when she saves the Sung family from danger, she is accepted by her new family.

Neela Sen, India 1939 Edit

Neela Sen is a 12-year-old girl whose older sister is getting married and her mother wishes to find her a husband. Neela's father is away on what her mother calls a family business. But she discovers that he's marching for peace and she is determined to bring him home safely.

Minuk, Yup'ik Alaska 1890 Edit

Minuk is a 12-year-old Eskimo girl growing up in Yuk'ik Alaska in 1890. She is intrigued by the new people named the Hoffs. But the Hoffs just don't understand the Eskimo ways like the Eskimos understand the Hoffs' ways. Minuk is determined to change that.

Saba, Ethiopia 1846 Edit

Saba is a 12-year-old girl who along with her brother is wanted by the emperor of Ethiopia. Determined to protect them, their grandmother shelters them in her home. But Saba's older brother, Mesfin is tired of being called and treated like a child and he encourages Saba to follow him in a disobedient way resulting in them being kidnapped and taken away from their grandmother. But when Mesfin is in danger, Saba must try her best to save him.

Leyla, Turkey 1720 Edit

Leyla is a 12-year-old girl who is determined to help her family's financial problems, but ends up on a slave ship which changes her life forever.

Kathleen Murphy, Ireland 1937 Edit

Kathleen Murphy is a 12-year-old girl growing up in Ireland in 1937. She comes from a poor Irish family. After getting in trouble for being later, the school's head nun convinces her mother to let Kathleen take Irish dancing which Kathleen enjoys.

Girl of the Year Edit

Each year, American Girl releases a Girl of the Year character who inspires girls to make a difference.

2001: Lindsey Bergman Edit

Lindsey Bergman is a 10-year-old girl who just wants to help out, but her ways of helping always ends her in trouble. She discovers there's more than one way to solve a problem.

2003: Kailey Hopkins Edit

Kailey is a 10-year-old girl who loves to surf, but when the tide pools she loves is put in danger, she is determined to save it.

2005: Marisol Luna Edit

Marisol Luna is a 10-year-old girl who loves to dance. But when she and her family move to a neighborhood that has no dance studio, Marisol gives up hope. But new friends encourage Marisol to keep hoping.

2006: Jess McConnell Edit

Jess McConnell is a 10-year-old girl who is the youngest of three children. She and her family are traveling to Berlitz so her parents could study some more. She makes a new friend and helps save a baby parrot.

2007: Nicki Fleming Edit

Nicki Fleming is a 10-year-old girl whose mother is expecting twins and encourages to take on training a dog. During the series, Nicki learns to say the word no.

2008: Mia St. Clair Edit

Mia St. Clair is a 10-year-old girl who is the youngest of four children who enjoys ice skating while her family loves hockey. Despite the teasing of her family, Mia continues to ice skate

2009: Chrissa Maxwell Edit

10-year-old Chrissa Maxwell has just moved to a new neighborhood and a new school. When she arrives at the new school, she is greeted by a clique of three girls who bully her and another girl named Gwen Thompson. Chrissa is determined to end the bullying once and for all.

Gwen Thompson Edit

Gwen Thompson is a 10-year-old girl who is bullied by a clique of girls. She is teased even more after the bullies find out that she is homeless. She teams up with Chrissa and Sonali Matthews, a former member of the bullies to stop bullying.

Sonali Matthews Edit

Sonali Matthews is a 10-year-old girl who is a former member of a clique of three bullies. She stops being a bully after she sees how much Chrissa stands up and cares for Gwen. She teams up with Chrissa and Gwen to stop the bullying.

2010: Lanie Holland Edit

Lanie Holland is a 10-year-old girl who loves nature, but her family loves the indoors. When her aunt comes, Lanie finds a few surprises in her backyard.

2011: Kanani Akina Edit

Kanani Akina is a 10-year-old Hawaiian girl who loves to welcome people to Hawaii. When her cousin, Rachel comes from New York City, Kanani is determined to help her feel welcome.

2012: McKenna Brooks Edit

McKenna Brooks is a 10-year-old girl who loves gymnastics, but is struggling with schoolwork. When she injures her foot, she must finish her schoolwork. In the end, she wins and gets to move on to the next level of gymnastics.

2013: Saige Copeland Edit

Saige Copeland is a 10-year-old girl who loves art. But when she finds out that her school can't afford art and music the same year. She is determined to fix that.

2014: Isabelle Palmer Edit

Isabelle Palmer is a nine-year-old girl who loves ballet, but is constantly teased by her rival. Despite the teasing, Isabelle keeps dancing.

2015: Grace Thomas Edit

Grace Thomas is a nine-year-old girl who wants to open her own business, but is whisked away to France with her mother to help her aunt who is expecting a baby. She tries her best to fit in with her friend and cousin, Sylvie's help. When she gets home, she gets a new dog and gets to open a Franch Bakery business.

2016: Lea Clark Edit

Lea Clark is a 10-year-old girl who is traveling with her parents to Brazil to visit her older brother who is studying abroad. When her fun turns into danger, Lea must find a way to save the day.
